your wedding dress was custom-designed at dior’s paris atelier. it was a minimalist masterpiece: a structured bodice with a square neckline, flowing into a clean, floor-length skirt with a cathedral-length train. the fabric was italian silk-mikado with a soft sheen, the epitome of elegance. no lace, no unnecessary frills—patrick deemed them “garish.” the veil was long and simple, edged with the thinnest line of swarovski crystals for just a hint of sparkle.

patrick wore a bespoke zegna tuxedo, black with peak lapels, tailored to absolute perfection. the cuffs of his shirt bore subtle platinum cufflinks engraved with your initials and the wedding date. he spent an obscene amount of time choosing the exact shade of black for the tie.

patrick stole quick glances at you, a flicker of irritation shadowing his eyes at the slight asymmetry of your smile. he stewed in his own perfectionist hell, a seething internal monologue growing increasingly deranged.

the bridal portraits was complete nightmare. after making the photographer redo them six damn times—he still found fault. he had scrutinised the angle of your neck, the curve of your jaw, the flicker of light in your eyes. in his eyes, the photos should’ve been magazine-perfect. anything less was sacrilege!

his vows were an unsettling, almost surreal monologue. a strange, disjointed stream of poetic nihilism, peppered with bizarrely intellectual references. sprinkled in lines from fromm’s the art of loving, twisting them into cryptic confessions that left everyone unsure whether he was being sincere or just… pretentious patrick.

the reception unfolded in an impossibly sleek manhattan venue. a cavernous, glass-walled space filled with patrick’s circle of high-powered cronies, along with stick-thin models who seemed more at ease snorting cocaine in dark corners than nibbling on the overpriced amuse-bouches.

the waitstaff darted around the room, terrified to stumble into discussions about stock portfolios, yacht repairs, or debates over which luxury rehab center had the best cold-press juice cleanse. conversations were a mix of shallow ambition and transactional networking.

the dining experience was an exercise in culinary pretension. dry-aged wagyu steaks with precise marbling, delicate beluga caviar that was more a statement of wealth than taste, and desserts that were too decadent (and high in calories) to exist. everything was paired with wine that cost more than most people’s annual mortgage.

the cake was a towering six-tier masterpiece from sylvia weinstock, adorned with sugar flowers so intricate they looked real. each layer featured a different flavour, from vanilla-bean sponge to passionfruit mousse.

only dom pérignon vintage 1985 was served—patrick had insisted on it. the bottles were presented on silver trays by impeccably dressed waitstaff, with glasses refilled before guests could even think about asking. patrick spent weeks debating between this and krug clos du mesnil but ultimately decided the former “sent the right message.”

during the ceremony, patrick’s bored mind slipped into violent fantasies. he imagined choking out the priest with his necktie and chopping up his groomsmen like sashimi.

despite being invited out of obligation, evelyn didn’t show. patrick hadn’t mentioned her absence until much later, casually remarking, “it was better this way.” he didn’t dwell on her, but jane—his secretary and a guest at the wedding—looked quietly heartbroken for some reason.

dancing was beneath patrick. instead, he lingered by the bar, a martini glass filled with a pristine, artful concoction he hadn’t ordered but took anyway because it fit perfectly in his hand. he’d observed the guests, mentally doing fit checks.

patrick rarely laughs, but when he does, it’s usually at something dark or absurd. once, you tripped over a stack of magazines he left by the couch and groaned in pain. his response? a sharp, startled laugh, followed by an unconvincing, “…are you okay?”

he adores the opera—not so much for the art but for the prestige it carries. he’ll plan elaborate evenings at the metropolitan opera house, ensuring both of you were impeccably dressed. he wore a brioni tuxedo, while he’d insist on you wearing a custom-made gown from carolina herrera or oscar de la renta.

despite his outward sophistication, his attention drifted from the stage to you. hand resting lightly on your thigh, fingers tracing small circles through the fabric of your dress.

he’s absolutely neurotic about cleanliness. he’ll never leave a glass on the counter without a coaster and can’t stand an unmade bed.

hates clutter and will occasionally “edit” your belongings—quietly throwing out things he deems unnecessary, like old magazines or sentimental knickknacks, without consulting you.

micromanages household tasks. he critiques the way you load the dishwasher, fold laundry, or even stack the fridge. “this is inefficient,” he’ll say, rearranging items while you stand there, biting your tongue.

patrick has an affinity for the ritual of lighting cigars. he’ll let you hold the match for him occasionally, but only if you did it exactly right.

would only agree to a pet under duress, and even then, it would have to be something sleek and purebred. when you suggest something more practical, like a rescue, he’s visibly horrified.

when you finally get the pet, patrick is immediately jealous of the attention you give it. if the cat / dog sits on your lap during movie night, he’ll stare at it with naked dislike. “i don’t understand why you let it do that,”

patrick has an odd relationship with your pet. he’ll complain about it incessantly—“it sheds everywhere,” “it’s always underfoot”—but despite his constant bitching, you’ve caught him talking to the pet on more than one occasion. “she likes you more than me,” he mumbles bitterly. the pet tilts its head, oblivious, which irritates him further. after taking another sip of scotch, he nudges it away with his foot—not enough to hurt it in your presence.

but the true ugliness of patrick’s jealousy comes out when you’re not looking. he’ll straight up kick the poor thing or lock it out from your bedroom.

doesn’t officially cheat, but he indulges in frequent encounters with sex workers—usually in secluded, high-end hotels. these encounters, hidden from you, are his way of dealing with his violent fantasies.

afterwards, he comes back to you, his demeanor completely unaffected. he doesn’t apologize, doesn’t act like anything has changed—because, in his mind, it hasn’t. you’re still his. you always will be.

when he’s bored, he’ll ask you to try on outfits—sometimes just a simple dress, but mostly it’s something risqué. he watches you from the other side of the room with that detached gaze, silently critiquing your appearance. “it’s not quite right,” he’ll say, before giving you another outfit to try on like you’re his personal doll.

while patrick doesn’t outright admit his dependence on you, it’s clear in the small moments. if you’re gone for too long, he’ll call, his tone petulant as he demands your whereabouts, as though your absence disrupts his routine.

at age 27, patrick doesn’t yet feel the need to rush into parenthood, but there are times, especially while having sex, that he considers the possibility. it’s an idea that briefly excites him, but he quickly dismisses it with a wry smile, preferring the idea of you and him maintaining an image of “perfection” without the messiness of raising a child.

though you’ve never spoken about the future in concrete terms, patrick assumes you’ll always be by his side, forever wrapped in his controlling, perfectionist bubble. he doesn’t see any reason why you’d want to leave; after all, why would you when you have everything?

some alien stage design parallels

I am always captivated by alien stage's designs so here's me likely over thinking small design details between character parallels

Sua vs. Luka

These two are directly paralleled due to both their similar personalities (on the surface level) but opposing relationships with mizi. sua is mizi's universe, but luka manipulates mizi by imitiating a confession by sua during round 5

anyway here are some fun details in their official artwork designs

Both have white their dominant color, with black as a compliment, compared to ivan's all black, hyuna's various colors, ivan's grey and red, and mizi's multi-color hair. however while white/light colors are predominantly in luka's top half, masking the black underneath, sua's black hair frames her face at the top, while she is dressed in all white underneath

Sua's bow is at the front of her chest, meanwhile Luka has a ribbon tied to his back. They aren't the same thing, so it might be a stretch, but to me shows sua's more honest intentions with her affection to mizi, while luka is more duplicitous in his "kindness" to mizi

though contradictory but maybe a connection, sua has her hands gloved, meanwhile luka does not cover his hands at all.

Sua's sleeves are puffed out -- im no fashion person so idk if there is a name to them -- making her top heavy design-wise, while luka's sleeves have the extra frill for a more bottom heavy design.

speaking of which, the one-sided trail follows luka around, giving asymmetry to his design. It's pointed and dynamic, giving a sense of instability, and in luka's case, distrust. It's like a snake in how it follows him around. meanhwile, sua has perfect symmetry to her design, displaying how she was a relaible support for mizi.

Sua & Mizi

Obviously these two are built as strong contrasts. but while the subtler differences between sua and luka's similar designs are to depict their clear distinctions, mizi and sua's strong contrast is to instead show how they perfectly fit together ahhh i love them sm

from the get go, there are numerous differences, both to establish the contrast in their personality. Similar to luka, there is asymmetry in mizi's design through the gloves as well as the multi-color hair, while sua has a sharp bob and symmetrical clothing to show how sua is the calm to mizi's excitement

There's the obvious black to sua's pure white, another show of mizi's spirited nature in comparison. mizi's puffed skirt is a contrast to sua's puffed sleeves, sua's boots contrast to mizi's thigh highs, and mizi has a covered shoulder while sua's dress is an off shoulder dress. Hell, even their eye colors are complimentary colors on the color wheel (just realized luka also has yellow eyes haha). in every respect, these two characters share zero similar features which can tie them together. But it instead shows how they compliment each other as polar opposites!

in terms of the only connection i can pull, the gem mizi often is featured with is shown here at the center of her chest, the exact placement to sua's both. perhaps representing their love for each other being their centers???

Till vs. Ivan

The other major relationship ... the more tumultuous of the two -- also have the heavy contrast to link them together. but both share an intrstic desire of wishing to be with another they can never have, so there is a strong parallel there. in a lot of ways, it is similar to how contrast is played up between mizi and sua, with one being the refined, calmer one while the other is far more hot-headed

To get over the obvious, ivan's fitted trenchcoat is in all black while till is seen with a oversized white t-shirt. till's rebelliousness is seen through his lack of shoes or sleeves, showing both how open he is regarding his emotions as well as his lack of care for himself. meanwhile, ivan is knee high boots and gloves over his long sleeved coat, representing his closed off intentions/desires

ivan's collar (seen also in the flashbacks when they were kids) is symmetrical and close to his neck while till is always choosing an off shoulder look, the real collar (not a shirt collar, like ivan's) always a seperate piece on his neck. again, showing ivan's supposed submission to the system while till is blatant in his hositility against alien stage, only controlled through force.

however, while it can be pointed out till is primarily in white, he isn't and thats what is the contrast between the two. while ivan wears only one color, showing his undying devotion to till (whether that may be love or trying to let him go when going into round 6), till has his red underneath, which shows his split in motives.

till similarly wants to escape from alien stage, seen through round 3's flashback in him accepting ivan's escape. but due to it meaning leaving mizi, till has to reject ivan to return to the system he hates so much, all for mizi. from basic color psychology, red is the color of passion and temper, which is clear in how till makes decisions. he makes his hatred for alien stage known, but he is fueled by his desire for mizi to keep him from leaving.

Hyuna vs. Luka

last one just cuz these two now have a confirmation over what their relationship was (my guess: hyuna showed a very isolated luka some affection, luka grew obsessive and plotted to kill hyuna's brother to have her attention on him) with luka being alien stage's biggest success and complacent with the system, hyuna stands on the opposing side by taking hold of her own freedom, even if that comes at the cost of her safety

(side tangent: i really dont like hyuna's design here. like its the color placement between the top and bottom and the weird gradient of blue to muddy green to cool yellow. dont even get me started on those shoes ... hell she doesnt even her outspoken nature. ear them in her own music video. but im including it just since its official artwork and hypothetically what she preformed with)

honestly hyuna sticks out so much more compared to everyone just due to the abundance of colors in her design. She only has some black, but there are various hues used throughout her design. Just about all the official art work for the other character depicts them in outfits with some black or white, with luka the most apparent by the balance of both colors.

luka looks almost artficial in how he wears only whites and blacks. its only furthered by his blonde lashes -- the only character with such a trait -- and especially the blues at his fingertips. hyuna in contrast is the only brunette of the series, and colors like brown are often associated with more earthly tones, making her seem more human than luka.

hyuna, like till, has no sleeves, showing some part of her outspoken nature. but to me, what hyuna and luka both share is their strong asymmetry. Hyuna through her sleeveless (???) tank top and luka aforementioned trail thing. they are at such polar opposite ends taht it could almost fall into instability

anyway off to manifest round 6 ending with hyuna and mizi rescuing till and ivan and then luka randomly exploding on the spot :3 (its probably gonna kill off till or ivan)

man, typhon. kit? fantastic. voice actress, particularly the EN voice actress? immaculate.

actual character design? the single biggest thematic mismatch between character art, character writing and the surrounding event

typhon, by rights, looks like schwarz. a Siesta character with an absolutely fuck-off huge bow. that's fine, that's something that's been in AK for years. But then they go "look at her! this elite demon hunter from the coldest, most inhospitable part of Terra" and we know what characters who explore the icefield dress like. Santalla and Maggie have been in the game for almost half a decade, wearing thick, quilted fabrics with windbreakers and the techno-mystic bits that tie fully into AK's fairly unique aesthetic.

Typhon has platform shoes like she's just coming back from a Siesta rave and has the sort of fashionable warm-weather asymmetry going.

It's so weird how much it feels like they rifled through their list of old character designs they never used for a character and went "yeah let's use that one next" and didn't really put any of their usual care into making the character design fit the writing.

I watched The Bow Tie Asymmetry for the first time since the original airing tonight, and I'm still reeling. There isn't much of a point to this message other than I thought you'd understand the emotional wringer I've been through and figured I'd say hello 👋

WAhhhhhhhHHH 😭 Thank you for 7k+ followers!!? I say this every time we hit a new major milestone, but I didn’t think we’d ever make it this far?? If you think about it, it’s really amazing that so many of us united over a shared interest!

dbksbsk?)F)d)-!2 I didn’t really know what to do to celebrate this milestone, but 🥹 since “7” is a special number (ie 1k for each dorm), I thought to share some dorm uniform doodles and design notes of the blog mascot/muse, Miss Raven! I hope you find this at least semi-interesting!

Heartslabyul

Heartslabyul Raven pulls inspiration from various sources, the main one being the titular Alice from Alice in Wonderland. To begin, Raven’s hair is down and allowed to be wild and whimsical like that of a child. The frilled apron and headband with the bow are meant to emulate Alice in many popular depictions, including Disney’s own. The style of the bows is also meant to invoke White Rabbit imagery (as it resembles his ears). You’ll also notice that a pocket watch similar to that of the White Rabbit hangs from Raven’s waist.

I wanted to go for a “fun-loving yet innocent schoolgirl” look, hence the pleated skirt and short, broad tie. The sash at Raven’s waist has a bow that is larger larger than the average Heartslabyul student; this creates the illusion of Raven being smaller than she usually is—an allusion to the shrinking and growing that young Alice does in her tale. The sash also just looks cute and playful at that size, jutting out on one side. I tried to keep true to Heartslabyul’s asymmetry throughout the design, right down to the socks. On one leg, it’s long and white, with a trail of card suits running down it. The other leg has a checkered leg warmer!

Her jacket is cropped to be shorter than her shirt and vest just to be a little cheeky! You can’t see it in the drawing, but pinned on the left side of Raven’s jacket is a Joker to indicate that she is a “wild card” in the deck. She’s sort of out of place compared to the other card soldiers; this is also evident by the mark under her left eye. Instead of bearing a card suit, Raven has a black feather and some glitter. After all, she’s not a card soldier, but a raven from a riddle with no answer.

This one’s definitely a favorite probably due to my own Alice in Wonderland bias! I feel like I captured the energy of Heartslabyul well while also incorporating very distinctly “Raven” elements.

Savanaclaw

It was very challenging for me to design a variant of the Savanaclaw uniform since it’s the aesthetic I like the least of the seven dorms (biker plus… cowboy??? 😭). Surprisingly though, I don’t mind the end product!

Since Raven was originally an actual raven/bird, I kept her pigtails as a nod to her animalistic roots. They’ve been moved a little higher on her head and they’re much messier, but the general idea is still there! I added some feathers with the same coloration as Zazu as accessories (since he, too, is a bird), and while that adds new colors to the overall look, I'm not sure how successful it was at blending with the Savanaclaw design philosophy.

Of course, Raven's wearing the dorm's shirt but since it's so loose and baggy she has something of a latticework camisole underneath for safety. In an earlier version of the look, Raven was in shorts and her legs were exposed. Then I thought, "it's just too weird to see her legs completely uncovered!" and I gave her leggings to go with those shorts. I toyed around with the idea of ripping the leggings at the knees, but I figures that since these are dorm uniforms, the school probably wouldn't want to hand the students already damaged clothes. I tried to substitute it by emulating "scratches and tears" in the pattern of the leggings.

There's a lot more jewelry than I expected in this design. There's the choker at her neck with a single pearl, then a bunch of bracelets on both wrists. Raven has gloves meant for fashion, but since it has little spikes on the knuckles, it looks like she's asking for a fight, haha... One of those bracelets might just break in the carnage and confused everyone.

Octavinelle

This one's simple yet clean, so I probably don't have a ton to remark on! The coat is way too big on Raven, so slips down her shoulders and creates the illusion of a "boat" neckline, similar to the dresses Vanessa (Ursula's human form) wears. Below that is a dress shirt and ribbon, a pencil skirt and a cummerbund. Very proper but also stylish, whether with or without the coat.

The obscuring wide brim on her hat and the peculiar boa-like way of wearing the scarf is supposed to help Raven come off like a classy rich lady that stumbled into a den of sharks--and integrates with those sharks. The longer ribbons are also meant to contribute to this sense of elegance; the tails look like streaming jellyfish stingers, no?

I thought to add pearl jewelry to make Raven look even more "rich", but jewelry clashes too much with Octavinelle's non-flashiness. Instead, I ended up incorporating pearls into her hat; they hang off in strings, so it kind of looks like they're falling down like "mermaid tears". DKJLLIDIBASDABSODAS The pattern on the socks looks silly, but it grew on me the longer I looked at it. I think because the rest of the outfit isn't super-eye-catching, I can get away with the pattern.

Scarabia

This one had to undergo the most redesigns of the seven. The original didn't look that different than the standard Scarabia uniform--and while there's nothing wrong with that, I wanted to try harder to make the clothes unique to Raven. To achieve this, I thought of borrowing elements from Princess Jasmine. That's probably already pretty obvious from the random swathes of blue in the outfit 💦 Blue stands out against the red, but I feel the color is a more genuine representation of both Raven and Jasmine's headstrongness.

Speaking of, Jasmine really made this look "work"! For example, Raven's hair and hair accessory are basically the same as hers, save for the pinned fabric in the back that fans out into a little veil. The shape of Raven's top is also very Jasmine-inspired, from the sleeves to the triangular embellishments (meant to resemble Jasmine's earrings).

I gave up trying to perfectly recreate the golden pattern on the skirt and just freestyled it. There's a lot of lines, and a lot of implied movement. I think of Raven walking in the skirt and how nice it would look billowing out behind her... kind of like a man-made tail!

... Yes, I know the Scarabian shoes are usually sandals. No, I don't want to see anyone's toes. Therefore, I slapped some slippers on Raven and called it a day.

Pomefiore

Raven also has her hair down for Pomefiore, but in a much more meaningful and intentional manner than with Heartslabyul. She has the hair tossed over one shoulder in a fashionable kind of way. I see her flipping her hair and it smacking people she deems unworthy in the face 😂 You can’t see it well in the illustration, but Raven has a half crown braid along the back of her head.

The flowers woven into Raven’s hair aren’t supposed to be any specific kind; she just picks random ones and sticks them in her hair for added effect. With the braid, it’s slightly reminiscent of Rapunzel’s sun festival look. Just as important as the flowers is the red ribbon tied in her hair—it’s the “red thread of fate” that connects her to important people.

Pomefiore, being a dorm of traditions, doesn’t change its clothes much for Raven. The undershirt is frilled as is the case with her original outfit, but the actual construction of the robes over that is largely the same. Perhaps the only major differences can be observed in the skirt’s hemming; it’s bunched up more to form ruffles, most noticeable in the opening slit of red fabric. It’s a small twist on a classic, which lends the whole look something borrowed yet something new.

OKAY BUT I HAVE NEVER WANTED TO CHOKE FABRIC MORE THAN WHEN I HAD TO RECREATE THE APPLE PATTERN ON THE RED INNER LINING. It was so difficult to do even in a very simplified manner… And don’t get me STARTED on figuring out how the heck drawing their sleeves works! This outfit is my Overblot origin story 💀

Ignihyde

The vibe I was going for here was “kawaii cringe otakucore uwu”. The only effort I made to be inspired by a Disney property was the high ponytail; it’s supposed to look like Megara’s! The ribbon in it is frazzled to resemble running electricity or electrical wires.

The outfit Raven is wearing has the futuristic Ignihyde jacket over it, but under is an oversized turtleneck sweater dress. The opening for the head is egregiously large so Raven can comfortably tunnel in it when she’s shy or scared. Think like a turtle retreating to its shell! Even the sleeves on it are too long (though not as long as Lilia’s Labwear coat); only the tips of her longer fingers protrude from it.

This iteration of Raven comes with a lot of accessories. You can’t see most of them because of the positioning of her body, but there’s various fandom badges and pins stuck to her sweater dress. Her hair barrettes/clips can also be swapped out for new designs. It all depends on what her hyperfixation for the day is!

Her boots are meant to be platforms. (Raven wants to be taller, darn it!!) Think of those little accessories you slap onto crocs; the sides of these shoes have similar accessories.

I have to say, looking at the final design… I can’t help but think about ninjas for some reason! Maybe it’s the pose or hiding half of her face in fabric?? I think I subconsciously also think of ninjas because of a manga I read where the main character drinks green tea and temporarily gains ninja skills! She wore a scarf in a similar fashion to the turtleneck collar Raven has.

Diasomnia

This one also went through significant redesigns on account of me not understanding how the Diasomnia uniform was constructed. I stared at it for a looong time before it finally clicked in my brain.

Raven’s Diasomnia look borrows from Crowley for the feathered shoulder pads, but the rest is pretty much all original. There was not a specific inspiration this time; I just wanted to have the image of a composed princess 😌 Her hair is again down here, but it’s styled a little differently than with Heartslabyul and Pomefiore. Instead of being curly all the way down, only the ends curl. Note that she also has hair buns on either side, which are meant to resemble rosebuds.

Ribbons are a consistently present across Raven’s various wardrobe changes. Because Diasomnia is more of a mysterious group, I went with a more lowkey ribbon than the usual one for her “tie”. It still looks authoritative but also has a little whimsy to it.

The puff sleeves, tighter skirt, and flowing coat give a regal and stern silhouette. Like a rose, pretty yet dangerous. vjsbsjsnsw I think “dangerous” is the right word to use here in another context; this outfit is probably the most revealing one due to the rose-printed stockings not being fully opaque. Raven could be standing in the middle of Diasomnia and then a breeze blows, threatening to knock her over and give her a cold 🥶

xvsjvsjwns I also really like this look, but I have a difficult time articulating why. It may just be the “fairy tale princess-turned knight” energy of it???

As of The Change Constant, Sheldon and Amy have had coitus 12 times. But do we know all 12 times? 

The Shamy Coital Count: What We Know, What We Don’t, and What We Can Wildly Speculate

1. Amy’s 36th Birthday The Opening Night Excitation

Date: December 17th, 2015 Location: Amy’s bed in her apartment #314

Obviously we all know the first time. Sheldon skipped the advance screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens to be with Amy on her birthday, and coitus was his gift to her. It is implied that it lasted for approximately the runtime of the movie, which is 2 hours and 16 minutes. When they are done, Sheldon says he looks forward to her next birthday when they will do it again, to which Amy agrees. 

2. Amy’s 37th Birthday The Birthday Synchronicity

Date: December 17th, 2016 Location: Apartment 4B, most likely on Sheldon and Amy’s shared bed

Per their verbal agreement after their first time, Sheldon and Amy do not have coitus again until Amy’s next birthday. Sheldon wakes Amy up right at midnight for it, however they are interrupted by Bernadette going into labor. They do not end up doing it until after the birth and after returning from a trip to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Harry Potter roleplay may or may not have been involved. 

3. Amy Leaves for Princeton The Gyroscopic Collapse

Date: May 6th, 2017 (estimated) Location: Sheldon and Amy’s shared bed in apartment 4B

Amy is offered a summer research fellowship at Princeton, and they break their rule of only having coitus on her birthday to do it once before she leaves. This is the first time we hear Sheldon refer to it as “lovemaking.” They fold their clothes neatly before they do it. Leonard, Penny, and Raj hear them going at it from out in the hallway of the apartment building. The exact date this occurs is uncertain, but if we assume the episode’s airdate of May 4th, 2017, to be the date at the start of the episode, they have coitus 2 days later on May 6th, 2017. 

4. Amy’s 38th Birthday The Celebration Reverberation

Date: December 17th, 2017 Location: Unoccupied bedroom in Howard and Bernadette’s house

Back to tradition, the next time they have coitus is on Amy’s birthday. It almost didn’t happen, as the day prior they both got food poisoning from the Little House on the Prairie-inspired frontier dinner Sheldon prepared. They were still sick that morning, but felt good enough later in the day to attend Halley’s first birthday party. At the party, while everyone else is distracted by the baby, Sheldon and Amy jump in the inflatable bounce house and then find an unoccupied bedroom for their own celebration. This is the first known time they do it as an engaged couple and the first known time they do it outside of one of their own bedrooms. 

5. Wedding Night The Bow Tie Asymmetry/The Conjugal Configuration

Date: May 12th, 2018 Location: Hotel room outside of Legoland California

Per The Athenaeum Allocation, we know Sheldon and Amy got married on May 12th. Nothing beyond the wedding ceremony is shown in The Bow Tie Asymmetry, but when we see them again in The Conjugal Configuration they are just waking up the next morning. Sheldon confirms that they consummated. Apparently Sheldon made Lego snapping sounds during the consummation. 

6. Honeymoon in New York The Conjugal Configuration

Date: May 15th, 2018 Location: Hotel room in New York City

Sheldon and Amy get into an argument over Sheldon’s need to schedule their coital encounters, and this comes to a head while they are on the Nikola Tesla tour. Later, they reach a compromise and decide that Sheldon can make a schedule and just not tell Amy about it. He plans to create an algorithm that will generate a pseudo-random schedule to accomplish this, and Amy’s explanation of why it cannot be a true random schedule excites him so much, they rush back to the hotel so she can explain it to him again naked. 

7. Three Weeks Ago The Donation Oscillation 

Date: January 19, 2019 (estimated) Location: Unknown, but most likely their shared bed in apartment 4B

When Leonard goes to apartment 4B to get away from Penny, who was trying to seduce him, Amy asks him why he is trying to avoid having sex. Sheldon, mistakingly thinking the question was directed at him, says they just did it three weeks ago. The exact date this occurred is uncertain. Based on the airdate and events of the episode, they had this conversation on February 9th, 2019. Three weeks prior would be Saturday, January 19th, 2019. 

Because this is a seemingly insignificant date, this could be one of Sheldon’s randomly scheduled sessions. It is important to note, though, that this does fall around the events of the Confirmation Polarization, where their super-asymmetry theory is proven by Drs. Pemberton and Campbell and they decide to fight them for the Nobel Prize. Perhaps they made love to celebrate that their theory got proven? Or as a physical manifestation of their commitment to either win the Nobel together or not at all? Something to think about. 

8 & 9. The Avengers Trailer The Change Constant

Date: December 7th, 2018 or March 14th, 2019 (estimated) Location: Unknown, but most likely their shared bed in apartment 4B

When Penny says Sheldon has had sex almost as many times as she has fingers, Sheldon corrects her and says it was more by two, thus bringing the grand total up to 12. He then goes on to say it was because of the Avengers trailer. The dialogue is a little ambiguous, but this implies that those two extra times are both because of the trailer. I’m going to go ahead and count them both here, because that is my interpretation and also because I think it’s funny that seemingly the first time they go two rounds is because Sheldon got too excited about a movie trailer release. 

Anyway, most likely Sheldon is referring to Avengers: Endgame, which hit theaters April 26th, 2019. The first trailer was released on December 7th, 2018, which potentially puts this prior to the previous list entry. However, considering this the events of the Change Constant take place in October 2019 (due to the Nobel ceremony taking place in December every year and this episode being set two months prior to that), it’s a little strange that Sheldon would bring up an example from so long ago. It’s possible too that it could have been the release of the second Endgame trailer on March 14, 2019, although that still is quite some time ago. (Unsure about any subsequent trailers.) Then again, perhaps Sheldon just knew that Penny was unaware of these two instances in particular, eidetic memory and all that.

So, that brings us up to 9 confirmed coital encounters. What about the other 3? 

Well, I have some suggestions . . .

10. Amy’s 39th Birthday

Date: December 17th, 2018 Location: Unknown

Although Amy was not given a birthday episode in season 12, I feel very confident in saying this was one of the missing instances. It’s their tradition, after all. In the timeline of the show, this would fall somewhere between the VCR Illumination and the Paintball Scattering, so while they’re still working on their super-asymmetry paper, before it was published. 

11. Honeymoon Round Two

Date: May 14th - May 20th 2018 (estimated) Location: Hotel room in New York City

This is less of a sure thing than Amy’s birthday, but I still think it is likely that they did it another time while away on their honeymoon. Actually, I originally was counting their arrival in New York as a confirmed coital encounter, as Sheldon says they can either make love or steam their wizard robes once the bellman leaves them alone in their room. I ended up removing it as the dialogue is just ambiguous enough that I can’t say for sure, plus when they get back from the Harry Potter play they are wearing the same clothes and the bed looks untouched. I could see Sheldon wanting to remake the bed after sex, but putting back on the same clothes that they assumedly also were traveling in earlier? In any case, if not on their arrival, I think they could have found at least one more time to do it before leaving, especially considering Sheldon originally scheduled multiple rounds for them. It’s unclear exactly how long their honeymoon was, but I assume it would be for at least a week, hence the date range. 

12. Randomly Scheduled Session

Date: Unknown but between May 21st, 2018 and early-middle October 2019 Location: Unknown

I know this isn’t terribly exciting, but the final time was likely due to the pseudo-random schedule Sheldon said he was going to create. Assuming he created one at all, it would almost have to be, as there’s only one other instance that could qualify as part of the schedule (the “three weeks ago” one discussed earlier). Clearly the dates are pretty spread out, so whatever algorithm he created must be set to generate dates at a fairly low frequency. But you could also disregard my additional honeymoon suggestion and say the remaining 2 were from the schedule. 

Other opportunities that I think are less likely but still possible:

The Nobel announcement - This could have worked except remember that the announcement came in the very early hours of the morning and then they still went to work. Would they have had time to make love and still get some sleep in? Uncertain.

Wedding anniversary - Because the last two episodes had to skip ahead in time, Sheldon and Amy’s first wedding anniversary is not mentioned, but this does seem like a likely time for them to do it. 

Valentine’s Day - They never had coitus on Valentine’s Day before but there’s no reason they couldn’t start.

Amy’s return from Princeton - Seems like a great way to welcome Amy home and get reacquainted, but I do get the impression that Sheldon was still more or less sticking to the birthday tradition at this point with only the one exception before she left.

So, now that we’ve covered all that, where do we go from here?

The Future of Shamy Coitus

Sheldon and Amy started out having sex only once a year, but the number has been increasing. Here’s the information above placed into a handy graph:

I made some executive decisions for the dates we are unsure on. For the Avengers trailer instance, I split the 2 rounds between the 2 possible dates, and for the unknown 12th time, I placed it in 2019. 

Now, this is just for the 12 times Sheldon mentioned as of October 2019. The year wasn’t over, and I personally believe they manage a few more times before it ends. In particular: 

Make up coitus when Sheldon returns to the apartment after the Change Constant

Celebratory coitus after the Nobel Prize ceremony

Amy’s 40th birthday

Again, this is just speculative. 

I would like to think it continues to increase for a few years, but perhaps that’s wishful thinking on my end. At the very least, I think it’s safe to say they continue the tradition of birthday coitus for Amy, and so it never drops down to zero. 

Keep in mind, we know from Young Sheldon that Sheldon and Amy have children. How this affects their sex life is hard to say. Would the count jump way up when they’re trying to conceive? Would it drop down significantly while the children are young? Would Sheldon continue using his randomly scheduled coitus algorithm once they have a family? Would they need it?

No one knows, but perhaps as new episodes of Young Sheldon continue to air, we can get a better idea. It remains to be seen. But here’s to hoping!

The Big Bang Theory 11x24

The Bow Tie Asymmetry chiude questa undicesima stagione in maniera magistrale, senza fronzoli, senza far sentire il peso delle questioni in sospeso e con un ottimo ritmo condensato in circa venti minuti di episodio.

Se è vero che questa stagione - come del resto le ultime - ha perso in parte la propria forza propulsiva, la serie ha dimostrato di avere ancora la capacità non tanto di stupire, quanto di emozionare, in una miscela riuscita di humor e di serietà.

In più, la partecipazione di Kathy Bates e soprattutto di Mark Hamill non ha fatto che arricchire un finale che gli episodi precedenti non avevano fatto altro che delineare in tutti i suoi aspetti. Si giunge dunque al matrimonio di Amy e Sheldon - per così dire - in modo “preparato”, ma le emozioni che si scatenano sono molteplici, dall’abbraccio tra Sheldon e Leonard, al dialogo di Sheldon con la madre e infine alle reciproche promesse di matrimonio.

Ancora una volta, è evidente, tutto ruota intorno al grande protagonista, che a questo punto della storia raggiunge traguardi un tempo impensabili, che si estendono peraltro al contesto lavorativo (la teoria sull’asimmetria, alla quale probabilmente non sarebbe mai giunto senza Amy).

L’undicesima stagione si conclude in maniera quasi brusca, ma in fin dei conti in linea con i consueti finali della serie, che non ama tergiversare troppo su certi aspetti narrativi e si riserva di esplicarli al meglio nella stagione successiva. Stagione in cui vedremo che esito avrà la scoperta di Sheldon/Amy; quale sarà il futuro di Penny e Leonard a livello famigliare; quale, infine, la sorte dell’unico “grande escluso”, Raj. Se è vero che The Big Bang Theory si trova in una fase discendente a livello di ispirazione, ciò non toglie che il futuro possa riservare ancora importanti sorprese. Ad ogni modo, per il momento, la serie chiude un capitolo importante e non può che lasciare soddisfatti gli spettatori.
